Photo Fact.
On the evening of August 21, a long line formed in front of the Italian Embassy on Rakovskaya Street. At first glance, it might have seemed that the consular service had once again changed the procedure for applying for Schengen visas and that people had come specifically for that. However, the reason turned out to be much more pleasant: the diplomatic mission had organized a free celebration with refreshments—pizza and ice cream.

The event was called “Summer Evening in the Embassy Courtyard.” The announcement appeared on the embassy’s social media accounts the day before, on Thursday, and even then, users assumed there would be a large turnout—an assumption that was fully confirmed.

According to posts by eyewitnesses who managed to enter the courtyard on Rakovskaya Street, the occasion was not merely festive: the event was timed to coincide with the end of the term of Italian Ambassador Tommaso Pietro Marchegiani, who has led the diplomatic mission since 2023.
