More than 500 employees were evacuated.
As a result of an attack by Ukrainian drones on August 22 on Ozon marketplace logistics center in the Samara Region of Russia, a fire broke out at the facility, and more than 500 employees were evacuated. This was reported by the publication “Dialog” reported this, citing social media monitoring.
The governor of the Samara Region Vyacheslav Fedorishchev confirmed that a nighttime attack by Ukrainian UAVs damaged the Ozon logistics complex in Chapaevsk. He also reported damage to an unspecified industrial facility, without providing further details.
Ozon itself acknowledged the strike on its logistics center in the region, noting that the drones caused a fire. More than 500 employees were evacuated from the building, and warehouse operations have been suspended indefinitely. The extent of the damage is still being assessed. However, Ozon claims that its entire logistics network is reportedly operating normally: routes that previously utilized the affected warehouse have been canceled and rerouted to other facilities.
This is the first time the Ukrainian Armed Forces have specifically targeted Ozon’s infrastructure. Previously, beginning on July 18, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had systematically attacked the warehouses of another major marketplace—Wildberries—a significant portion of which was destroyed. According to Ukrainian officials, both companies are involved in supplying the Russian army and supporting the Russian military-industrial complex, which makes their facilities legitimate targets for the Ukrainian armed forces.
