In several regions of aggressor Russia, activity has been observed at military training grounds that is believed to be linked to possible preparations for a new wave of mobilization. Special commissions have begun traveling to these sites to assess how prepared the facilities are to accommodate a large number of people simultaneously. The partisan movement “Atesh” reported this on August 22 via Telegram, citing its own agents among military personnel and employees of regional government agencies in the Russian Federation.
In particular, such inspections were observed at the Kadamovsky training ground in the Rostov Region, as well as at the Alabinsky training ground in the Moscow Region.
Russian authorities have so far officially denied plans for any conscription measures, but evidence of preparations for a large-scale mobilization is mounting—according to available information, it could begin immediately after the September elections.
At the same time, as activists note, the Kremlin is already laying the legal groundwork for coercive measures against citizens and businesses. For example, a bill has been submitted to the State Duma that would impose fines of up to 1 million rubles or suspend business operations for 90 days for failure to comply with decisions made by operational headquarters.
“Under the pretext of the army’s needs, businesses are effectively being forced to hand over equipment without public notice, have their production facilities seized, and send employees en masse to the front under the threat of complete bankruptcy,” reads a statement from the “Atesh” movement.
