The Ukrainian Armed Forces Captured The Nephew Of A Russian Lawmaker

A Russian soldier who identified himself as Dmitry Lomakin from Perm was taken prisoner in the Zaporizhzhia sector. According to the 33rd Separate Assault Regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the man claimed to be the nephew of a Perm City Duma deputy, reports Dialog.UA.

The Ukrainian military reported that Lomakin signed a contract with the Russian army, counting on the promised payments, after which he was sent to fight against Ukraine. In a published video, the prisoner of war said that before being sent off, he was allegedly promised manual labor without combat missions.

“I thought we’d be building things. I didn’t know I was going to war,” the 33rd OSHP quoted the prisoner as saying.

In footage released by the Ukrainian military, Lomakin also stated that his uncle (his mother’s brother) is a member of parliament in Perm. He did not name the lawmaker. The 33rd Separate Marine Infantry Brigade stated that the Russian servicemember is now a prisoner of war and may be eligible for an exchange. Lomakin himself expressed a desire to return to Russia as part of an exchange for a prisoner from “Azovstal.”
