A Russian Lieutenant Colonel Was Killed In A Bombing In St. Petersburg

The man died at the scene.

In St. Petersburg, on Kolpinskoye Highway, a homemade explosive device detonated inside a car, according to “Fontanka”.

According to the publication, a serviceman and his wife were in the car. The man died at the scene; the woman was hospitalized. “Fontanka” claims that the couple’s legs were blown off as a result of the explosion. The publication reports that the deceased held the rank of lieutenant colonel.

The explosion occurred on the morning of August 27 near a “Magnit” store. Eyewitnesses reported that around 10 a.m., the military officer and his wife were pulling away from their home when an explosive device went off in their car.

As noted by “Agency”, the explosion took place in a neighborhood that was undergoing active development with housing for military personnel. In 2010, Vladimir Putin, who was then serving as prime minister, visited the site to inspect the apartments being built for military personnel.
