In Kosovo, which is partially recognized, a parliamentary session was disrupted following a confrontation between an opposition lawmaker and Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

Tensions in the chamber escalated after Kurti proposed postponing the inaugural session. The prime minister stated that he needed more time to negotiate with political forces before nominating a candidate for the position of parliamentary speaker.
After that, Kurti took his seat. Then Time Kadrijai, a member of parliament from the “Alliance” party, approached him. She took eggs out of her bag and threw them at the prime minister several times.
During the incident, the lawmaker shouted, “Shame, shame.” After that, the parliamentary session was disrupted.
The incident involving Kurti attracted the attention of international media. In particular, The Guardian published a video of the event titled “Kosovo lawmaker throws eggs at prime minister.”
Kosovo has been in a political stalemate for nearly two years. Disputes among political forces are complicating the formation and operation of the parliament.
On June 7, early parliamentary elections were held in Kosovo. Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s “Self-Determination” party once again received the most votes—47.13%—but it won only 53 of the 120 seats and failed to secure a majority.
This has prevented the country from emerging from its political crisis: Kurti needs the support of other political forces to form a stable government and resolve institutional issues.
