A video has surfaced online showing a Ukrainian drone attacking a Russian vessel from the so-called “shadow fleet.” The footage, recorded by one of the crew members, shows the drone flying at low altitude straight toward the bridge—the navigation cabin where the command post is located, according to "Dialog".
A powerful explosion rocks the ship at the moment of impact. The name of the vessel and the nature of its cargo have not yet been specified.
Over the past month, more than 200 Russian vessels and ships involved in the Russian Federation’s military, fuel, and logistics infrastructure have come under attack in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas. It is noted that the goal of such attacks is not always to completely sink the target. Often, the objective is simply to disable the vessel.
As a rule, drones target key components: the engine room, steering mechanism, bridge, or other vital elements. After sustaining such damage, the vessel loses propulsion and the ability to perform its tasks. While remaining afloat, it effectively becomes a non-self-propelled barge requiring towing and lengthy, costly repairs.
