The incident occurred yesterday around 4:30 p.m. local time. A woman who had walked into Times Square suddenly began lunging at passersby, brandishing two kitchen knives. First, she seriously injured an elderly man, and then stabbed Erin Piacenti, who happened to be nearby, in the stomach.
The attacker began threatening police officers who had arrived on the scene, after which she was shot. Today, police reported that the assailant was Pamela Cisneros, 49 years old. According to police, the injured man is in the hospital and his condition is considered stable.
