A Moose Brought Train Traffic To A Standstill In Downtown Warsaw

On the evening of September 13, Warsaw experienced major disruptions to train service due to an unusual incident—a moose wandered onto the tracks near the Central Station, according to TVN24 reports.

Meanwhile, readers of the Charter97.org website report that helicopters are constantly flying over the area around Warsaw’s Central Station.

The animal was found on the tracks between the Warsaw-West and Warsaw-Central stations. The police received a report after 7:00 p.m. The area was cordoned off, and specialists began an operation to capture the moose.

Due to the increasing disruptions, starting at 8:00 p.m., Warsaw introduced mutual recognition of ZTM and Koleje Mazowieckie public transit tickets within the first fare zone.

Polish railway workers humorously dubbed the unexpected passenger “Emil the Moose” and reported that experts are attempting to safely return the animal to its natural habitat.

At the time of publication, the operation to capture the moose was still underway.
