Poland Has Mobilized Its Air Force And Closed Its Airports In Response To Attacks By The Russian Federation

Ground-based defense systems have been placed on high alert.

In Poland, on the morning of September 16, operations at the Rzeszów and Lublin airports were suspended, and an air raid alert was issued in several districts of two provinces due to the ongoing Russian air attacks in western Ukraine, according to RMF24.

The Polish Armed Forces Operational Command issued a statement indicating that, due to the presence of Russian attack drones in western Ukraine, Polish aircraft are taking to the air, and ground forces are being placed on high alert.

Shortly after 8 a.m., an air raid alert was issued for units in the Podkarpackie and Lubelskie Voivodeships—including the border towns of Przemyśl, Rzeszów, and Lublin.

Operations at the airports in Lublin and Rzeszów were also suspended.

Shortly before 8:00 a.m., the Ukrainian Air Force reported the movement of Russian jet drones toward western Ukraine; one of them was detected near Kovel.
