Zelenskyy Outlined The Condition For An Energy Truce With Russia

Washington will convey Ukraine's proposal to Moscow.

Ukraine is ready for an energy truce with Russia. Kyiv will refrain from striking enemy energy facilities if Moscow does not attack Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated while speaking with journalists following a meeting with his American counterpart Donald Trump.

“We discussed an energy truce, but I don’t want to go into details,” said the Ukrainian president.

According to the Ukrainian president, Washington will convey Ukraine’s proposal for an energy ceasefire to Moscow.

“If we don’t attack energy infrastructure—and I mean all energy infrastructure—that’s our proposal.” But I don’t know Russia’s position on this matter,” he noted.

Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would cease strikes on Russian energy facilities if Russia refrained from striking Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

The Ukrainian president added that there was no mention today of Ukraine having to unilaterally halt its strikes.

“If you want us not to retaliate with strikes on diesel production, oil refining, and the like—we won’t. We’re responsible. I don’t want to play games. If he attacks us, we’ll respond,” said the Ukrainian president.
