Sosedov's Mother Revealed New Details About His Death

Calling an ambulance didn't help the flamboyant TV host.

At the age of 59 Russian music critic Sergey Sosedov passed away; he was known for his controversial assessments of pop stars and his participation in the TV show “The X Factor.” The news of his death was confirmed by his mother, Antonina, in a comment to Russian media, according to “Glaved”.

The accident occurred on September 23 in the city of Neryungri in Yakutia, where Sosedov had arrived the day before. On September 25, he was scheduled to serve on the jury of the local “Pearl of the Far East—2026” competition. According to the critic’s mother, the tragedy occurred right in the hotel. While walking down the stairs, Sosedov fell and suffered a severe head injury.

“I’m a mess—how could I possibly feel? He flew there, to Yakutia, on the night of the 21st. And today, Viktor Nikolayevich, some producer, called from there. He was going down the stairs at the hotel, fell, and hit his head. They called an ambulance, but he died during surgery. It’s just horrible,” the propagandist’s mother said.

Antonina admitted that she had tried to talk her son out of such a long and exhausting trip, but he insisted on going.

“I told him, ‘Why are you going so far away?’ Well, work is work. What am I supposed to do—oh, my God. How can things like this happen?” she said in a comment.

Various versions of what exactly led to Sosedov’s fall appeared in the media. Some sources claimed that the critic may have suffered a blood clot. After the fall and the resulting injury, he developed severe brain edema, and doctors were unable to save his life. At the same time, a source close to Sosedov denied the reports of a blood clot and claimed that the incident was an accident.
