A job opening for a salesperson at the “First National Trading House” sparked a storm of emotions among Belarusians.
Belarusachka is looking for a “mobile sales consultant” for its brand store at the “First National Department Store.” The company posted this announcement on Threads. Along with the job responsibilities, the post also specifies the salary the company promises the candidate during the first three months of the probationary period. Judging by the comments, the amount came as an unpleasant surprise to many, writes “Zerkalo”.
The ad states that a sales consultant is needed for full-time work from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The primary work location is the “First National Department Store,” but with the possibility of working at the “Globo” and “Stolitsa” shopping centers as well.
“Please read this carefully, without making any value judgments. “We’re working within the constraints of what we have available,” writes a company representative before moving on to the financial details. It goes on to state that the salary will be 1,300 rubles before taxes, meaning the employee will take home even less.
“This is set for a probationary period of up to three months; in the future, the amount may (that is, it’s not a certainty—Ed.) be revised,” the company candidly explained.
Commenters couldn’t resist making “judgmental remarks” after the amount was announced:
“Don’t you think it’s ridiculous to pay such peanuts in 2026?”
“Girls want to eat, and you can’t really eat much on 1,300 before deductions).”
“D**, for a salary like that, you might as well just sit in one spot. Who knows who you’ll find—retirees, maybe… and even that’s a stretch!”

That said, there were also words of support and understanding among the comments.
