Ryzhenkov Discussed Visa-Free Travel With North Korea And The Opening Of A Belarusian Embassy In North Korea At The UN

A minister from Lukashenko's government met with his North Korean counterpart.

The foreign minister Maksim Ryzhenkov during a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Kim Song-gyeong on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

The parties noted “the qualitatively new level that relations between Belarus and the DPRK have reached over the past year,” according to the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“They emphasized that these relations are firmly grounded in the friendly and trusting ties between the leaders of the two countries. <�…> They paid special attention to the issues of opening a Belarusian embassy in Pyongyang and the further work of the joint commission on trade and economic cooperation,” the ministry noted.

Ryzhenkov and Kim Song-kyong also agreed to “step up efforts to finalize an agreement on visa-free travel for citizens of both countries.”
