One In Ten Members Of The New Duma Turned Out To Be A “participant In The Special Military Operation”

Putin's press secretary stated that the occupiers' experience will be drawn upon when formulating new decisions.
Forty-six participants in the invasion of Ukraine were elected to the new State Duma—that is more than 10% of the total number of parliamentary seats. This was announced by Ella Pamfilova , chair of Russia’s Central Election Commission , at a meeting of the commission to certify the election results. According to her, 41 “special military operation veterans” represent United Russia, three represent the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), one was elected from Fair Russia, and one ran as an independent.
“For the first time, 46 participants in the special military operation have been elected. That is, in fact, over 10% of the total number of seats,” said Pamfilova (quoted by TASS). She added that this is a “significant difference” from the previous election campaign and suggested that the former military personnel would “set a certain tone in the Duma.”
The Kremlin viewed the election of war veterans as deputies positively. The press secretary of the dictator of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stated that their experience will be in demand when drafting new decisions. “The experience of our heroes is in demand. The voting results have eloquently confirmed this,” he said.
Earlier, Faridaily sources reported that the Kremlin had planned to bring at least 100 war veterans into the State Duma. Vladimir Putin has repeatedly referred to them as the “new elite” and called for more active involvement of “heroes of the special military operation” in government institutions. One of Faridaily’s sources noted that making war veterans into deputies is “the easiest way to show that they’ve been recruited into the government”: according to him, they will not be appointed to the executive branch, “where the money is,” nor to financial and industrial groups, “where Russia’s real power lies,” but rather “to the powerless legislative branch.”
Following the elections held on September 18–20, “United Russia” won a record 349 seats: 140 in the federal district and 209 in single-member districts. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) won 37 seats, the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) — 23, “New People” — 19, and “Fair Russia” — 17. One additional seat went to “Rodina,” and four went to independent candidates.
Commenting on the election results, Putin stated that Russians had voted for war.
