Young activists arrested for distribution of sanctions “Nasha Niva”

Policemen detained 6 youth activists in Hrodna. They handed out independent newspapers “Nasha Niva” and “Nasha Slova” and advertisements of “Belsat” TV channel.

The activists were taken to the police department of Leninski district. One of the detained, Khrystsina Marchuk, told to Radyjo Svaboda that they had bags with “Belsat” emblems in their hands.

Journalists Mikola Markevich and Andzej Poczobutt, a reporter of the Polish newspaper “Gazeta Wyborcza” came near the police department. They wanted to find out what had happened to the activists, but were detained themselves. But soon the policeman, who had done that, ensign Afanasyeu, apologized and released the both journalists.

Later all the youth activists were released without reports being drawn up, Khrystsina Marchuk said. As said by her, after identification of the activists all things were returned to them.

As we have informed, a few days ago information was received by editorial offices of “Nasha Niva” and “Narodnaya Volya” from the administration of Alyaksandr Lukashenka that their newspapers would be included into the subscription catalogues and be accepted to the state-run distribution network of Belsayuzdruk. Besides, they would be able to be printed on the territory of Belarus. It is expected that agreements with the editorial offices are to be concluded today, November 24.
