A Belarusian military delegation led by minister of defense Yury Zhadobin is paying an official visit to Tripoli.
Belarus and Libya signed a protocol on cooperation in defense affairs on December 16.
According to the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Defense, the visit took place on December 14–16.
Yury Zhadobin and secretary of the Libyan General Interim Committee for Defense (defense minister) Abu Bakr Yunis Jaber held negotiations in Tripoli.
Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi also accepted the Belarusian defense minister.
We remind that Muammar Gaddafi visited Minsk in November 2008.
Muammar Gaddafi became Libya’s leader in 1969 and established the regime based on people’s committees and meetings. In March 1977, he proclaimed Libya Jamahiriya (government by the masses).
He banned all political organizations except for headed by him Arab Socialist Union. Gaddafi’s regime supported terroristic organizations, especially pan-Islamic ones.
