Alyaksandr Kazulin met with Czech vice premier

2

Former political prisoner and former presidential candidate Alyaksandr Kazulin has a meeting with Czech vice premier Alexandr Vondra in Prague.

The talks focused on invitation of Lukashenka to Prague for a May summit of the EU heads of state, “Nasha Niva” newspaper reports.

Kazulin said Lukashenka shouldn’t have been invited to Prague, as Belarus hadn’t made any concrete steps towards democratization, which would have compensate for repressions of the last 15 years of his rule. According to Kazulin, 90 per cent of the representatives of the Belarusian democratic movement are of the same mind.

The former political prisoner says the 20th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution is marked in 2009, and on May 7, on the day of the summit, 10 years will have passed since Yury Zakharanka disappeared. That’s why Lukashenka’s visit to Prague under such conditions would mean victory of dictatorship over democracy.
