Prisoner of conscience Dubski to service sentence in Mahilyou colony

Participant in the Protest of Fourteen sentenced to a year of imprisonment has been transferred from the remand prison in Babrujsk.

It has been stated by the head of the legal department of the Young Front Nasta Lojka, the press-service of the Young Front informs.

“Artsyom Dubski’s mother, Alena, has learnt from judge of the court of Asipovichy, Zh. Sharabajka, that Artsyom was transferred to the correctional colony of general regime in Mahilyou,” Nasta Lojka said. “He was taken there on August 28, but the administration of the remand prison where Artsyom was previously held refused to give any information”.

As we have informed, on July 7 participant of the Process of Fourteen Artsyom Dubski was sentenced to a year of imprisonment in a correctional colony of general regime for participation in the Process of Fourteen. In 2008 the young activist was forced to leave for Ukraine as policemen issued two far-fetched warnings for violation of the rules of serving the sentence. Dubski was detained in February 13, 2009 in Homel.

The Process of Fourteen is a criminal case under article 342 of the Criminal Code of Belarus, instigated against participants of a peaceful rally of entrepreneurs held in Minsk on January 10, 2008.

For participation in this rally 14 youth activists were sentenced to different terms of imprisonment and restriction of liberty. Amnesty International recognized the participants of the Process of 14 Prisoners of Conscience in 2009.
