Vilnius Airport Suspended Operations Due To An Unidentified Object

Flights at Vilnius Airport were temporarily suspended today due to an unidentified object in the air. Operations resumed around 11:30 a.m., according to LRT.

A spokesperson for the National Crisis Management Center , Darus Buta , said that flights were suspended due to an unidentified object, which the Air Force is currently trying to identify.

“The situation is not yet entirely clear. According to the latest information, Vilnius Airport has resumed operations. Operations were suspended because fighter jets from the NATO air defense mission were scrambled to identify an unidentified object that had been detected on radar,” he said.

Operations at Vilnius Airport were also suspended overnight due to a drone that flew in, presumably from Belarusian territory. The drone was shot down by a NATO fighter jet in Kaunas County.
