Patrushev promised to destroy Warsaw “in two or three days.”
Russia will destroy Poland in no time if it decides to start a war, said Nikolai Patrushev , an aide to the Russian president , in an interview with “AiF.” “If Poland enters into military hostilities against Russia, our country will deploy its entire arsenal of forces and resources, and the Polish state will cease to exist within two or three days,” he said (quoted by “Interfax”).
According to Patrushev, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, in claiming Poland’s military superiority, fails to take into account that the Russian Armed Forces in the war against Ukraine “are by no means using their full potential.” Putin’s aide also accused the Polish minister of “Russophobic frenzy” and “an unwillingness to ensure Poland’s peaceful existence.”
Earlier, Sikorski stated that the Poles and their allies were capable of to quickly defeat the Russian army in the event of an attack, citing the EU’s significant air superiority. The minister also noted that the combined defense spending of the Baltic and Northern European countries already exceeds Russia’s military budget.
According to Sikorski, EU countries must convince Russian President Vladimir Putin of their readiness to respond to any potential aggression and make it incredibly costly for the Kremlin. He also called on NATO to scale up military exercises near the Kaliningrad region to force Russia to redeploy troops to the region from the Ukrainian front.
On September 13, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that in the coming “weeks and months” he expects very intense military action on Russia’s part, which could affect the territory of Poland. He emphasized that Warsaw and its NATO allies “must be prepared to respond jointly if necessary.”
