It has been stated that “not only administrative responsibility, but responsibility for violation of the Electoral Code could follow for candidates for presidency.”
The General Prosecutor’s Office of Belarus has warned the candidate for presidency, a co-chairman of the Belarusian Christian Democratic party Vital Rymasheuski that it is illegal to hold the unsanctioned rally in Minsk, which had been announced by him during his speech on TV.
“The General Prosecutor’s Office has prepared an official warning to Rymasheuski about illegality of holding an unsanctioned rally on October Square in Minsk,” journalists were said on Tuesday in Minsk by Pavel Radzivonau, the head of legislative execution and legislative acts legality control department of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Belarus.
As said by him, “candidate Rymasheuski had been warned by my in oral form that it is unallowable to violate the law on holding mass rallies.” “An official warning would be handed to him when he returns from his working visit to Babrujsk,” Radzivonau said.
“The General Prosecutor’s Office finds any calls to action and holding unsanctioned mass rallies unconstructive and violating the requirements of the law currently in force,” Radzivonau said.
A representative of the General Prosecutor’s Office has also called upon “citizens and other candidates for presidency to respect the requirements of the legislation on mass events.”
Touching upon the legal consequences of holding unsanctioned street rallies, Radzivonau underlined that “not only administrative responsibility, but responsibility for violation of the Electoral Code could follow for candidates for presidency.” “The Central Election Commission would be informed about the official warning to Rymasheuski by The General Prosecutor’s Office,” he added.
We remind that earlier the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party called upon voters to come to October Square in Minsk on November 24, which is the anniversary of the referendum – 1996.
