Charhinets wrote book about Luksheim planet

Even the head of the official Union of Writers could not stop from a political allegory in his book “Helots of Madness”.

It has been said by a Belarusian writer Natalka Babina in her radio program “Pentateuch of Freedom” on air of Radio Svaboda.

“I am not a fan of such a writer as Charhinets, but I mention his book here for the sake of the quote at page 426. We read the words said by an alien, one of the heroes of the book: “Look, Nikolay Platonovich, there are many extraterrestrial civilizations. All of them, except one wish gradual development of their knowledge, development and self-improvement for the sake of the uniting civilizations. But a planet “Luksheim” (read as “… shame”) exists, where creatures spawned by the hell are living. All of them consist of atoms of evil, hate and obscurantism. Such qualities as envy, meanness are oozed by them, and under their influence more and more earthlings are turning into rascals, lackeys and slanderers – destroyers and demolishers of your civilization”.

Such an interesting name for the planet in the book, Luksheim, where in comes from? Frankly speaking, the first and the last idea which occurred to my mind was an abbreviation of two names: “Lukashenka-Sheiman”. The origin of the word “helots” in the book is interesting as well. They were a group of population in ancient Sparta which were neither completely free, nor slaves,” the writer notes.

But it should be noted that the book was issued back in 1995.
