A criminal case over giving knowingly false evidence has been initiated against a co-chairman of the organizing committee on creating the Belarusian Christian Democracy party (BCD).
Heorhy Dzmitruk told in an interview to BelaPAN he had been called in to a militia department on May 14. “As it turned out it is continuation of a matter on my claim against libel against me. Earlier, a criminal case under the article “Defamation” was initiated in connection with the spreading via the Internet a statement of Olya, Lena and Olya, representatives of one of the oldest profession, who accused me of a debt for their services and demanded that I should pay them in exchange for their silence,” Dzmitruk said.
According to him, yesterday he as handed in a decision of deputy prosecutor of the Brest region, who had examined the case and ordered to stop it “due to the lack of elements of crime in the actions of unidentified persons”.
“The phrasing is strange, as the audio record published on the Internet by “Olya, Lena, and Olya” with our alleged conversation contains not only defamation but also extortion (the y demand to pay for non-existent services), blackmailing, and threats (they say they will publish our pastimes that have never taken place on the Internet). The deputy prosecutor ignored these facts,” Dzmitruk said.
According to Dzmitruk, this decision on refusal to initiate a criminal case may be a reason for opening a criminal case against him over giving knowingly false evidence.
“There are many details in the case. Another CD with recording appeared, a new examination was carried out. I need to talk to my lawyer to know how to react to this,” Dzmitruk said.
