Mikalai Autukhovich transferred from quarantine to colony

The political prisoner will soon be transferred to the 13th unit of penal colony #22 in the town of Ivatsevicvy.

The transfer is to take place in the next few days, human rights activist Aleh Vouchak told BelaPAN.

The entrepreneur from Vaukavysk sentenced to five years and two months of imprisonment in medium security penal colony, was guarded to a colony in Ivatsevichy (Brest region) from detention facility #1 in Minsk on July 23. He has stayed in quarantine. The businessman was found guilty of carriage and storage of five hunting rifle cartridges.

According to Vouchak, Autukhovich must be checked up by a doctor upon his arrival in the colony unit. “Then a question on rendering prosthodontic services to Autukhovich outside the colony will be considered,” the human rights activist said.

As it was reported earlier, Autukhovich spent much time unsuccessfully trying to get prosthodontic treatment. He went on hunger strike demanding medical aid on June 16-22. As a result, he was examined by dentists who said he needed prosthodontic treatment. Autukhovich and his defense insisted on treatment in Minsk, as medical service is better in the capital.

Human rights activists consider Autukhovich and other convicted in the so called criminal case of Vaukavysk businessmen political prisoners attracting attention to serious procedural violations.
