Iranian Oil to Be Enough for Sowing Campaign in the Shklou District

No goal stands behind the purchase of Iranian oil.

Belorusneft purchased 80 thousand tons of oil (about 600 thousand barrels) from the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC). Reuters informs referring to four unnamed sources.

The Iranian oil was purchased by subsidiary of Belarusneft in Poland. It is expected that the consignment will be delivered by sea to Odessa or Ventspils of Latvia, and then by rails to Belarus.

It is noteworthy that Minsk bought the Iranian oil at the height of the Russian-Belarusian oil-and-gas dispute.

Do Belarusian authorities seek any alternative to the Russian oil? Economist Leanid Zaika voiced his version to EuroBelarus.

- Why should we discuss these small numbers? - 80 thousand tons is only the twelfth part of a million. Perhaps, this oil will be enough to produce diesel fuel for the sowing campaign in the Shklou district. Perhaps. But it does not play any economic role, most likely it was just a scheme of delivery of the Iranian oil to Belarus. Iran appeared on the oil market a few years ago, however, Iran locates too far.

- Can deliveries of the Iranian oil bring any profit for Belarus?

- This is an old story - Azeri oil, raw materials from Venezuela. Minsk has decided to rub it in the Kremlin's face. No strategic goal stands behind it.

- Is a political step of Minsk made at the height of the oil-and-gas war with Russia?

- I would not call it a political step, this is the propaganda decision. It may be a deceptive maneuver.

- For what?

- The March of Angry Belarusian takes place on February 17, in the near future the Belarusians will kick up a row. People expect that the government will finally start doing something, it's time to look for the way out of the crisis. What was the first decree of the Council of Ministers in 2017? Do not even try to find, you won't do it. It relates to the production of garden cottages. They do not care about oil, the crisis, major macroeconomic calculation, only about garden cottages. We live in a neorealism.

- Is the settlement of the dispute between Russia and Belarus possible in the near future? Semashka announced that Russia had already been presented the twentieth solution to the dispute...

- Semashka should not have been sent to Moscow.

The Kremlin, Putin, his analysts do not follow the oil-and-gas dispute. The parties have released two Gladiators into the arena: Director Semashka from Minsk against the young eastern young man Dvarkovich (I know him personally). They can be heroes of films with gladiator fights when a small Jerusalem descent vs. powerful barbarian with big muscles. I cannot foresee who will become a winner.

The Kremlin also acts right - sets the third echelon, officials who have no power to deal with oil issues. This is a great propaganda show.
