Schools of the Minsk District Start Classes at 9 am

It will be recalled that a single decision on the time lessons start at schools and gymnasiums has not been reached today. Some capital gymnasiums have already informed students that the first lesson starts at 8.30 while others start classes at 9 am. For example, according to parents, capital's gymnasiums No.12 and No.32, start lessons at 8:30, and a number of schools still do not provide with the schedule.

In Smarhon, the Hrodna region, for example, four schools start lessons at 8.30 am, three other schools and a gymnasium - at 9 am.

The Ministry of Education and the Education Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee have not yet been able to provide generalized data when lessons begin at schools and gymnasiums in Minsk and throughout the country. But they reminded that the schedule was determined by the administration of educational institutions.

It will be recalled that on May 12 Aliaksandr Lukashenka instructed to review the schedule at schools. "It's not necessary to start lessons as early as 9 am", Lukashenka stated. After that, many schools began to think about the new schedule since September 1. Institutions working double shifts considered the option to start classes at 8.30 or 9 am, others - at 9 am. If classes start at 9 am schools will be opened from 8 am for parents who start work at 8 am. Teachers will look after the children before lessons begin. Breaks have been cut.

On May 26 Aliaksandr Lukashenka told about the reaction of his son Kolya on classes at 9 am: "I have got one opinion in the morning: 9 am is wrong. What should parents do?".
