Arrests In Minsk Continue

Passers-by with national symbols are being detained in Niamiha.

In Niamiha street, people in civilian clothes have started to detain selectively passers-by with national symbols – ribbons, flags, balloons, Radio Svaboda informs.

Journalist Halina Abakunchyk is among the detainees. According to the journalist, she was rounded up by two men without identification marks on clothes and pushed into a blue minibus. They explained that it was necessary to question her in connection with an allegedly "committed crime". She gave them her passport, but the policemen took no interest of it.

Halina Abakunchyk has managed to report by phone that several people with flags had been also forcibly detained. After some time, she and others were transferred to a car and taken to the Tsentralny district police department of Minsk. The minibus continued "hunting" for other passers-by.
