Carnival Of Freedom Continues All Over The Country

A million people in the streets of Belarusian cities and villages.

The National Freedom March was held in Belarus today. About a million people took to the streets across the country. In Minsk about 500 thousand people came to the “Minsk - Hero City” Obelisk. Then they marched along the Avenue to the Government House. Separate actions continue in other cities of Belarus.

The website Сharter97.org provides live coverage of the actions throughout the country.

20:43 Priests have supported the protest. Bells were ringing all over Minsk as a sign of support.

20:41 Today a group of former paratroopers climbed the steps of the Government House with a banner “Air Assault Forces Are With The People”.

One of them said through a megaphone that many of their comrades remain behind bars, and the election was held with numerous violations. Those who beat peaceful demonstrators cannot be considered law-enforcement officers, the former paratrooper said. According to him, he came with his comrades to rehabilitate the army, and show that it is with the people. The speech was repeatedly interrupted by ovations and the chant “Army with the people!”

20:38 A banner in memory of the deceased hero of Belarus Aliaksandr Taraikouski has appeared on Niamiha.

20:29 A fantastic atmosphere. This is how Minsk residents return home after the epoch-changing rally.

20:05 This is how Minsk residents marched near the KGB today.

20:03 A rally near the walls of the remand prison in Valadarski Street is taking place this very minute. The people are demanding to free their heroes.
