In addition, the U.S. imposed sanctions against the national debt of Belarus, prohibiting the U.S. citizens to operate with "new debt securities" with maturity of more than 90 days and issued on or after December 2.

The authorities of the UK and Canada announced that they had joined the restrictive measures against the Lukashenka regime, imposed by the European Union and the U.S.

These restrictive measures are a response to the migration crisis, for which Western countries blame Aliaksandr Lukashenka and his associates personally.

According to the website of the British government, Britain, the U.S., the EU, and Canada gave a collective response to the ongoing human rights violations by the Belarusian authorities.

"Today, in response to continuing attacks on human rights and fundamental freedoms in Belarus, and in response to the lack of respect for international norms and repeated acts of repression, we have reintroduced coordinated sanctions against certain individuals and organizations," the document reads.

Representatives of the British government say the country imposes sanctions against the Belaruskali company, as well as certain citizens of the republic.

In particular, the list includes five propaganda state-run media.

Restrictive measures, implying a ban to enter the UK and freezing of bank accounts, are imposed on Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Journalists, propagandist Andrei Kryvasheyeu, Deputy Chairman of Belteleradiocompany Siarhei Husachenka, propagandist of Sovetskaya Belorussiya Andrei Mukavozchyk and propagandist of the same media Liudmila Hladkaya, as well as on crazy propagandist of STV TV channel Ryhor Azaronak.

Also head of the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Andrei Parshyn, judge of the Frunzenski District Court of Minsk Natallia Buhuk and former assistant prosecutor in the same court Alina Kasjanchyk are on the list.

Joint Statement

The US, Canada, the UK and the EU issued a joint statement on the occasion of adopting collective sanctions.

They demand that Minsk stop organizing illegal migration across the borders of the European Union, release political prisoners, and begin a dialogue with the opposition.

"We again demand from the Lukashenka regime to stop immediately and completely the organization of illegal migration across the borders with the EU. Those who contribute to the illegal crossing of the external EU borders in Belarus or other third countries should know that it will cost them dear," reads the text of the statement, published on its website by the Canadian Foreign Ministry.

The document also called for "the unconditional and immediate release of nearly 900 political prisoners, an end to the repressive campaign and the implementation of the recommendations of the OSCE Moscow Mechanism expert mission by taking significant measures to address the concerns identified in the OSCE Vienna Mechanism."

"The regime must get engaged immediately in a comprehensive and meaningful political dialogue with representatives of the democratic opposition and civil society, facilitated by the OSCE, leading to new free and fair presidential elections under international observation," the U.S. and its allies said.
