This is one of the most important journalistic awards in Poland.

Political prisoner Andrzej Poczobut, who has been in the Belarusian prison for almost a year, has become the journalist of the year according to the Grand Press rating. This is one of the most important journalistic awards in Poland, reports press.pl.

The winner was chosen not by a special jury, but by the journalists themselves.

Jarosław Kurski, Andrzej Poczobut's colleague at Gazecie Wyborczej, received the award for him:

- Andrzej Poczobut's strength was not in writing something important this year. His position was more important than his reports, commentaries and various publications. It is a proof that freedom of speech has no price and is not subject to trade.

Andrzej Poczobut was detained in the "Polish case" in the spring of 2021. At the end of May three women detained in this case - Irena Bernatskaya, Maryja Tsishkouskaya and Hanna Panishava, were taken from Belarus to Poland. Poczobut, as well as chairman of the Union of Poles in Belarus Anzhalika Borys, refused to leave the country.
