Body of Deceased Political Prisoner Vitold Ashurok Is Not Given to His Relatives

The brother of the deceased phoned the investigator.

On Friday, May 22, it became known about the death of political prisoner Vitold Ashurk in the Shklou colony. On May 24, relatives do not know when the body of the deceased will be handed over to them. They were told one thing about the causes of death: "The heart stopped."

The brother of the deceased, Andrei Ashurok, tells Belsat that, on the morning of May 24 he phoned the investigator who is conducting an inspection. He wrote down his phone number and said: "Wait for the call," "the experts are working." When asked whether relatives could take Vitold Ashurk's body, the investigator could not say anything and asked to wait.

“We learned that Vitold had died on Friday evening - and here it is Saturday and Sunday,” says Andrei Ashurok. "This is a tragedy for us, and there is a weekend."

Everything that the family of the deceased knows about the causes of death is what Vitold's widow Volha was told on Friday evening: he died in the colony from cardiac arrest, and all further questions should be addressed to the Investigative Committee. Moreover, Volha says that Vitold's heart was healthy.

Vitold Ashurk had many acquaintances; his brother says that people come to express condolences and help the family. Andrei says that the question now is not about money but about giving Vitold a decent burial.
