Polish Actor Performed in the European Parliament As a Sign of Solidarity with Belarus

Video fact.

European Film Academy awarded prizes for the best films. The winner was announced on June 9 during the plenary session of the European Parliament.

LUX European Audience Award for 2021 went to "Kollektiv" (directed by Alexander Nanov). Second place went to the film Corpus Christi by Jan Komasa.

Bartosz Bielenia, who starred as criminal Daniel, pretending to be Father Patrick, devoted his speech to Belarus when receiving the award, reports Radio Svaboda.

- I'm from Poland [the actor was born and studied in Bialystok]. Poland is on the border between the EU and Belarus. People were tortured across this border. I can show my solidarity with Jana Shostak," he said.

Then he started shouting. The deputies met it with applause.

- Long Live Belarus, he shouted out at the end.

Jana Shostak, a Belarusian artist from Grodno, lives in Poland. She has organized screaming performances, which she calls "scream therapy." The artist screams her best for several minutes in different cities to draw attention to the situation in Belarus.
