Ukrainian Army Knocks Out Occupiers From Two Settlements In Donetsk Region

Ukrainian army is advancing along the Seversky Donets river

Ukrainian fighters continue their offensive in eastern Ukraine - they have created conditions for successful advance deep into the occupied east of Kharkiv and Luhansk regions.

Up-to-date maps of combat operations in Ukraine as of 16 September have been published by the American Institute for War Studies (ISW).

According to Russian sources, in Donetsk Region, the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to drive Russian troops out of the village of Sosnove on the northern bank of the Seversky Donets River and are currently reinforcing their positions there. In addition, the source said that the Russian troops retreated from Studenka directly to the west of Sosnove in order to avoid encirclement.

Also, it became known from Ukrainian and Russian official sources that Russian troops strengthened Russian positions in Liman. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that the "LPR" 2nd Army Corps of the 202nd and 204th Motorized Rifle Regiments had been significantly reduced in strength and disbanded - the remnants of the fighters probably joined the Russian Combat Army Reserve (BARS).

Ukrainian forces are reportedly advancing across the Oskil River in northern Kharkiv Region. A Russian source claims that Ukrainian forces are setting up bases and artillery positions throughout Kharkiv Oblast, including in Hryanikivka on the eastern bank of the Oskil River near the R79 highway.

If confirmed, this would mean that Russia's front line east of the Oskil River is weak and Russian positions in the area may be further east of the river than previously thought. Also, according to Russian sources, Ukrainian troops cross the river from time to time in unspecified areas.
