Central Asian diplomatic chiefs agree with European partners to fight against circumvention of measures against the Russian Federation
Luxembourg hosted an important meeting of European Union foreign ministers with their Central Asian counterparts from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
At this event, the heads of diplomatic departments agreed on the readiness to tighten sanctions against the Russian Federation, as well as to strengthen the joint fight against circumvention of restrictive measures, Dialogue.UA reported.
The 19th EU-Central Asia ministerial meeting was organised by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and European Commissioner for International Partnership Neven Mimica.
In a joint statement, the diplomats said that the ways of circumventing the restrictive measures imposed against Russia, as well as strengthening economic restrictions against the Kremlin, should be blocked.
Representatives of European countries emphasised the importance of preventing the circumvention of sanctions. In turn, the foreign ministers of the Central Asian states agreed to continue co-operation in this direction.
"The European Union emphasised the importance of preventing the circumvention of sanctions, and the participants agreed to continue their cooperation on this issue," the joint statement of the delegates of the meeting stressed.
