The far-right politician has spoken out sharply against Russian Federation.
The leader of the Freedom Party, which won the elections in the Netherlands, Geert Wilders, spoke at a debate in parliament on December 13. The far-right politician, who may become the new Prime Minister of the Netherlands, explained his attitude to Russia, Bloomberg reports.
Earlier Geert Wilders used to praise the head of Russia Vladimir Putin. Therefore, the publication writes, Russian channels welcomed his victory in the election on November 22 and positioned it as a success of the Kremlin.
Therefore, Wilders decided to convince local lawmakers that he is not a friend of Moscow.
At the debate, Wilders called the Russian president a "terrible dictator" and Russia itself an "aggressor."
"Putin is a terrible dictator," the Dutch politician emphasised.
Despite this, he was in favour of reducing support for Ukraine. He explained that Kyiv is trying to get help from key Western allies, and the Netherlands is now seemingly unable to defend itself.
"We believe that we should not give military support to Ukraine unless we are able to defend our own country," the potential head of government said.
