This has nothing to do with politics.
Anna Zelenyak , a teacher at Minsk Gymnasium No. 22 , said on Threads that she was “asked to resign” from her position. She taught several subjects: Russian language and literature, as well as Belarusian language and literature. According to Zelenyak, the reason for the request from the administration was her “very revealing photos on her Instagram profile,” writes “Zerkalo”.
“Hi. I was asked to resign! I’m a teacher of Russian language and literature, as well as Belarusian language and literature! I was told that the photos on my profile were too revealing. And I was fired,” Zelenyak wrote in a post on the evening of Friday, October 30.

The teacher accompanied her post with photos of the children, for whom she appeared to be the homeroom teacher. The photos show that the young teacher is well-liked by her students: they’re smiling and goofing around together.
Meanwhile, there are no “very revealing” photos visible on Zelenyak’s Instagram. In her free time, the teacher enjoys photo shoots, including professional ones, but in all of them she is fully clothed—there isn’t a single photo of her in lingerie, for example. The most “revealing” she gets is wearing corsets or posing on a bed.
On Threads, the post had already garnered 217,000 views within 11 hours of being published, 5,600 likes, and about 600 comments. The reason for this “explosion” was the divided opinions on why Zelenyak posted something so candid on social media. Some people supported the teacher:
“Soon there won’t be anyone left to do the work, and they’re all glued to their Instagram profiles.”
“When someone on the teaching staff is jealous of a young, beautiful girl.”
“I won’t even comment—I don’t have enough clean words, girl… 2027 is right around the corner, Starlink, people have orbited the Moon, flying cars, <…> Claude, Gemini, etc. Meanwhile, here we are: <…> teachers are getting fired for their personal Instagram profiles, and everyone thinks it’s normal.”
“Of course, everyone has a different idea of what ‘revealing photos’ are, but I didn’t find any like that. I only found beautiful ones.”
“I looked at the profile—nothing revealing… A young, beautiful woman, wonderful photos…”
However, there were also those who took issue with Zelenyak’s photos.
User mozhnopersik suggested imagining what it would be like if some of Zelenyak’s photos had featured a male teacher instead.

Some even went so far as to claim that Zelenyak’s post wasn’t true, but just “clickbait.” In other words, people began to suspect that the teacher had made up the situation to attract attention. But similar stories have happened before—and not just in schools.
In the spring of 2025, for example, an English teacher from School No. 18 in Polotsk Yulia Perepech was fired for her TikTok blog. The administration was unhappy that she was filming “school-related content.”
