Poll: 88% Of Ukrainians Express Belief In Victory In War With Russian Federation

Most believe it will choke soon.

88% of citizens believe that Ukraine will win the war, while most of them believe that this is possible in the short term. This is evidenced by the results of a sociological survey conducted in mid-December by the Democratic Initiatives Foundation together with the Razumkov Center.

The press service of the Democratic Initiatives told Liga.net that the survey was conducted for grant funds, there was no third-party customer.

Among the 88% of Ukrainians who believe in victory, 63% believe “unequivocally.”

Only 5% of respondents doubt victory. True, as sociologists noted, compared to December 2022, the ratio between those who unconditionally believe in victory (from 78% to 63%) and those who rather believe in victory has changed somewhat (from 15% in December 2022 to 25% now).

The majority of respondents (58%) believe that Ukraine will win the war in the short term: 6% — in the next few months, 21% — before the summer of 2024, another 31% — `in one to two years.

15% of respondents are inclined to win in the medium term (within three to five years).

2.5% of respondents do not believe that victory will come in their lifetime.

The absolute majority of residents of all regions are convinced of Ukraine’s victory, but in the south there are slightly more skeptics (10%) compared to other regions, the survey results say.

The survey was conducted from December 8 to December 15, 2023, using the method of personal interviews among 2019 respondents over 18 years of age throughout Ukraine, except for the Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions, as well as the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv and Kherson regions. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%, but, as sociologists noted, additional systematic deviations may be due to the consequences of Russian aggression, in particular the forced evacuation of millions of citizens.
