We need to prepare for this.
Deputy Chairman of the Narodnaya Hramada Party, Mikalai Statkevich's ally Yauhen Vilski believes that a victory over Russia in Ukraine will open a “window of opportunity” for Belarus. The activist said this in an interview with Charter97.org:
“August 9 is a significant day for me, our party and Belarusians. Belarusians have shown that they are ready to defend their freedom. August 9 turned the whole of Belarus upside down. We were constantly waiting for some kind of trigger, moment, and finally it happened.
Belarusians saw that the regime was supported only by the bayonets of the local power bloc and the Russian one. There is no more support. Yes, this regime continues to exist, but history will not turn back. This day will forever remain in the history of Belarus. Just like the uprising of Kalinouski, the Slutsk uprising, and August 9, 2020.
Belarusians today need to hope for solidarity. Many are tired, of course, three years have passed. Many were not ready for a long confrontation. Today, the regime is supported by Russia. But troubled times are approaching.
The victory over Russia in Ukraine will give Belarusians a “window of opportunity”, as it was in 1918. I think this moment should be used to the fullest. After all, if Russia weakens, Lukashenka's regime weakens as well, it will simply collapse. You need to be ready for this.
Therefore, only solidarity, support and hope for our volunteers in Ukraine.”
