WSJ: Russia Has Placed Nuclear Weapons In Belarus Near NATO Borders

Experts have determined where it is stored.

Russia is deploying nuclear weapons in Belarus near NATO borders, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Statements by dictator Aliaksandr Lukashenka that Russia has completed the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, which some considered a bluff, may be true, the publication writes.

U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan said earlier that Russia’s head Putin had begun “to take steps to station tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus.” In July the Defense Intelligence Agency said there was “no reason to doubt” Vladimir Putin’s claims about sending nukes to Belarus.

The USA already names the “most likely candidate” for Belarus’ “new nuclear sharing mission with Russia”.

The Federation of American Scientists analyzed open-source intelligence including a video from the Belarusian Ministry of Defense and concluded that the air base located in the city of Lida, Hrodna region, Belarus is the actual site.

“Lida Air Base, located only 40 kilometers from the Lithuanian border and the only Belarusian Air Force wing equipped with Su-25 aircraft, is the most likely candidate for Belarus’ new ‘nuclear sharing’ mission” with Russia,” WSJ writes.
