Special Proceedings Started Against Belarusian Woman Who Left For Lithuania With Her Children

She was accused under five articles of the Criminal Code at once.

The Investigative Committee opened special proceedings against Soligorsk activist Ilona Rudenya on March 12. The woman is accused under five articles of the Criminal Code:

— Article 188 of the Criminal Code (“slander”);

— Part 3 of Article 203-1 of the Criminal Code (“illegal actions regarding information about private life and personal data”);

-— Part 1 of Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code (“promoting extremist activities”);

-— Article 364 of the Criminal Code (“violence or threat of violence against an internal affairs officer”);

— Article 369 of the Criminal Code (“insulting a representative of the authorities”).

Lukashists invite her to appear at the Pershamaiski district police department of Minsk.

Ilona Rudzenia actively participated in the protests in 2020. A criminal case was opened against her and they threatened to deprive her of parental rights. Ilona is raising her son Danila and daughter Ksenia alone. They tried to take them to a boarding school.

In the winter at the end of 2020, the woman fled alone to Lithuania through the forest, and later managed to take her children from Belarus.
