Ukrainian Intelligence Has Routed Elite Russian Special Forces Units

The operation was the result of meticulous intelligence and technical work.
Operatives from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense neutralized two groups of Russian special forces. The Main Intelligence Directorate reported this on its Telegram channel.
As noted, fighters from “Timur Special Forces” carried out a successful special counter-sabotage operation, as a result of which they neutralized two groups of servicemen from the 10th Separate Guards Special Forces Brigade of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
Intelligence sources reported that, thanks to successful human intelligence operations—in particular, information obtained from within enemy ranks—as well as the use of technical intelligence means, Ukrainian military intelligence officers identified the composition of the enemy groups and their routes of movement.
Specifically, members of the special forces unit set up an ambush to intercept the Russian special forces. After detecting the enemy, the scouts engaged them with fire and cleared the area.
“One Russian special forces soldier was taken prisoner,” the Main Intelligence Directorate reported.
Intelligence also reports that during the entire operation in the Zaporizhzhia sector, fighters from the “Timur Special Forces Unit” inflicted 448 irreplaceable casualties on the enemy and captured 85 Russian servicemen.
It is noted that the 10th Separate Guards Special Forces Brigade of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is a core unit of Russian military intelligence, whose servicemen took part in the wars against Georgia and Ukraine, as well as in the Russian military campaign in Syria.
The presence of members of this brigade in the occupied territories of Ukraine was documented as early as 2014–2015.
