"Breaking News": Zelenskyy Responds To Trump's Statement On A Ceasefire

Ukraine is ready to agree if Russia takes the same step.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the “energy truce” announced by the head of the White House Donald Trump came as a surprise to him.

Zelenskyy told in a comment to Axios journalist Barack Ravid.

At the same time, the Ukrainian president noted that he would agree to such a truce if Russia were to take the same step.

“The announcement of the ceasefire came as a surprise to me. But if the Russians agree to an energy truce, Ukraine will agree as well. If President Trump has negotiated this with Putin—please let us know when the truce begins—we are ready and will accept it,” he said.

Trump had previously stated that an “energy truce” had gone into effect between Ukraine and Russia.

It is worth noting, however, that prior to this, the U.S. president accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of being unwilling to end the war and of ignoring instructions not to strike Russian oil refineries.
