It finds volunteer drivers and tracks where people are being taken.

Rajiv Choudhary, a 25-year-old from Delhi , has developed a digital platform that helps people detained during protests find their way home. The system combines artificial intelligence, volunteers, and drivers willing to pick people up from police stations for free, according to The Telegraph India (translation by the website Charter97.org).

The idea came about after Choudhary attended a protest himself and saw how people were helping one another. At first, he organized the delivery of essential supplies, and then he began coordinating volunteers. Eventually, a simple Google spreadsheet turned into a full-fledged app.

During the mass protests in Delhi against Election Commission Chairman Gyanesh Kumar, detainees were taken to various police stations, and it was difficult for relatives and friends to figure out where to look for them and how to help them get home.

The Choudhary app collects reports of detentions, tracks buses, and locates volunteer drivers nearby. Artificial intelligence processes reports in English, Hindi, and Hinglish, extracts the necessary data, and flags cases where a person requires medical attention.

An operator then contacts the nearest driver and ensures that the detained person is picked up and taken to a safe place. However, the platform does not operate autonomously: information comes from people on the ground, and every report must be verified.

“We created a Google spreadsheet,” Choudhary recalls of the project’s early days. According to him, the initial system helped more than 250 people return home.

Now the volunteer wants to share the system with other initiatives. The main challenge is finding enough drivers willing to help stranded passengers for free.
