Zelenskyy stated that Russia continues to attack Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
On October 11, Russia attacked Thermal Power Plant No. 5 in Kharkiv—this occurred a few hours after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the start of an “energy truce” between Ukraine and Russia.
This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Telegram.
“Today, the President of the United States issued a statement saying that an energy ceasefire has been reached. This is good news for everyone; it is important that this becomes a reality. Ukraine supports all realistic and reliable formats for a ceasefire and an end to the war,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
According to him, Ukraine is ready to refrain from striking Russian energy infrastructure, but this requires a similar willingness on Russia’s part.
Zelenskyy noted that the enemy’s recent actions suggest otherwise. For instance, on October 11, Russian “suicide drones” and aerial bombs were spotted in Ukrainian airspace. In addition, Russian strikes on energy infrastructure were recorded.
“Just now, there was a strike on Thermal Power Plant No. 5 in the city of Kharkiv, targeting the energy infrastructure in Kharkiv. In just this one week alone, the Russians have carried out more than 200 strikes on our electricity generation and transmission facilities in Ukraine. There were another 17 strikes this week on gas and oil facilities here in Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.
