On March 6, in the Olonetsky district of the Republic of Karelia (RF), FSB officers killed 49-year-old Mikalai Aliakseyeu.

Aliakseyeu is an activist from Belarus who took part in the 2020 protests.

According to the official version of the Russian investigation, Aliakseyeu allegedly “resisted arrest and was killed.”

They wanted to detain the man as part of a criminal case about “preparation for a terrorist attack” (Part 1 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) which was opened against Aliakseyeu in Karelia on the same day.

Reader of the Basta! Telegram channel reported details of the incident:

— I want to share the news about Mikalai Aliakseyeu, who was killed by the Russian FSB in Karelia. Mikalai’s body is not given to his wife. She goes to this terrible organization every day. Thursday will be 9 days. They also said that they would not give away his personal belongings. They can't bury him.

Mikalai had children: the youngest is 8 months old. The middle child is 8 years old. And Slavik is 12 years old. There is also a daughter, she is 18. The child, who is 12, had to be homeschooled.
