The former head of the Russian Federation did not appreciate the metaphor about Carthage.
Russia must be destroyed. With these words, Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs commented on the latest statements by Emmanuel Macron. The latter is confident that the West must ensure that Russia does not win. Edgars Rinkēvičs shared his thoughts on his page on the X network.
“I fully support EmmanuelMacron: we should not draw red lines for ourselves, we must draw red lines for Russia and we should not be afraid to enforce them. Ukraine must win, Russia must be defeated,” Edgars Rinkēvičs wrote.
In addition, the Latvian leader decided to paraphrase the Latin expression “Carthago delenda est”— “Carthage must be destroyed.” True, this time he noted: “Russia delenda est,” which literally translates as “Russia must be destroyed.”
Dmitry Medvedev decided to respond to the words of the President of Latvia. The Russian politician wrote a short post, which was accompanied by a photograph of hanged people taken during the Second World War.
Medvedev wrote that he was presenting “to Western friends, an alternative photo version of the peace formula.”
“Both those who fire at civilians in our cities and Rinkēvičs will be hanged there,” he wrote.
