Who is he and how did it happen?

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky told how a Ukrainian soldier recently took four Russians prisoner on his own. The 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade told LIGA.net that it was Andriy Lyaskovets, a sergeant from one of the brigade's units.

The 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade noted that on the evening of June 14, Russian troops, under the cover of armored vehicles, stormed Ukrainian positions near the village of Pobeda near Maryinka.

During the assault, Junior Sergeant Lyaskovets shot down one enemy infantry fighting vehicle with a MILAN anti-tank missile system. Then the remaining surviving part of the Russian landing force dispersed in the landing, never reaching their destination.

According to the military, 18 Russians were able to land on Ukrainian positions, after which a battle ensued. Under the command of Lyaskovets, the enemy landing force was localized in a short time, and most of it was destroyed.

On the night of June 15, Lyaskovets participated in the search for and destruction of the enemy remnants.

Around 15:00 on June 15, the junior sergeant discovered the remnants of the enemy group, moved forward and opened fire from small arms, which disoriented the enemy and put them into a state of panic, the brigade said.

Having gotten his bearings in the situation and choosing the right moment, he captured four Russian servicemen, one of whom died while moving — he was destroyed by a precise strike from a Russian FPV.

The brigade also emphasized that the enemy assault was repelled without loss of personnel and the battalion's combat positions were preserved.

Commenting on this story, Syrsky wrote: “I believe that this act is a striking example of the bravery and high fighting spirit of our defenders, and certainly deserves to be appropriately awarded.”
