Sibiga Called Iran's Foreign Minister Following Threats Of Strikes Against Ukraine

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister reported on a "frank conversation."

Ukraine responded to Iran’s statements about possible strikes through diplomatic channels, noting the need to avoid further escalation.

This was reported by Charter97.org, citing a post on social media platform X by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga.

According to the minister, he held a “frank” telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi. He emphasized that even in difficult situations, diplomacy remains a tool for direct dialogue, and Ukraine’s main goal is to prevent further escalation.
Sibiga stressed that all of Ukraine’s actions are aimed exclusively at defending the country against Russian aggression.

“I reiterated that all of Ukraine’s actions are aimed exclusively at defending our country against Russian aggression and have never been directed against civilian vessels or people,” he noted.

Separately, the Ukrainian foreign minister commented on Iran’s statements regarding the death of an Iranian national and damage to a civilian vessel during the recent incident.

“Our goal is to counter Russian aggression, which is the root cause of all incidents, and it is Russia that bears full responsibility for all provocations and casualties,” Sibiga emphasized.

During the conversation, the minister also called on Iran to refrain from any actions that could lead to further escalation and to cease supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine.
“This war is illegal and must end. Our position remains unchanged: Europe and the Middle East deserve stability, security, and peace,” the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry concluded.
