Indian PM Preparing Ultimatum For Putin
NARENDRA MODI

The demand will be voiced during a visit to Moscow.

During his visit to Moscow on July 8-9, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will demand that Vladimir Putin return Indian citizens who were deceived into fighting in Ukraine. This was announced by Vinay Kwatra, First Deputy Foreign Minister of the South Asian republic.

He added that thanks to the efforts of the Indian side, 10 Indians have already been returned from the war in Ukraine. “Every effort has been made to ensure that Indian citizens return as soon as possible,” Kwatra said.

As Reuters has learned, in recent months alone, “several cases” have been identified in which Russian authorities have deceived Indians into participating in military operations. In May, Indian police arrested four people suspected of involvement in illegally sending local residents to war. At least four Indian citizens have died since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, prompting Indian authorities to previously call on Moscow to immediately stop recruiting.
